Mamelodi Sundowns are on the brink of completing a major transfer deal ahead of their pre-season tour.
The team is preparing to travel to Austria later this month to intensify their preparations for the upcoming season.
SUNDOWNS FINALIZE KODISANG TRANSFER
This week has been eventful for Sundowns, with both anticipated and surprising changes involving players and coaches. Nevertheless, the club’s commitment to signing top talent remains unwavering. This will soon be exemplified by their agreement to sign Bafana Bafana international Kobamelo Kodisang from Moreirense.
According to iDiski Times, it is only a matter of time before Kodisang departs the Portuguese top-tier club to join Sundowns.
The publication stated, “Mamelodi Sundowns are closing in on the signing of South African international winger Kobamelo Kodisang ahead of the new season. The 24-year-old winger looks set to return to the DStv Premiership after nearly six years in Portugal, where he was currently with top-flight side Moreirense. This publication understands that Sundowns have met his asking price and will complete the transfer, subject to a routine medical.”
PREVIOUS LINK WITH KAIZER CHIEFS
Two off-seasons ago, Kodisang was heavily linked with a loan move to Sundowns’ arch-rivals, Kaizer Chiefs. However, that move did not materialize as he chose to go on loan to then-second-tier Moreirense. After playing a key role in promoting the club to the top flight, they secured his permanent transfer from SC Braga. Now, after two seasons at Moreirense, Kodisang is poised to return to South Africa with Sundowns.
During his 68 appearances over two years at Moreirense, Kodisang scored 14 goals and provided eight assists. He will be hoping that his move to Sundowns will help him reestablish his place in the Bafana Bafana squad.
