Angel Reese had a heartwarming exchange with a young fan who asked her what motivates her. Reese responded, “Girls like you… little girls that look up to me. Being able to wake up every day and know that little eyes are watching me. I hope one day you can do what I’m doing. I know you’re wearing my shirt, but just being able hands-on with you if you ever need anything and just being there for you guys. Being a good example.”
In other WNBA news, players DeWanna Bonner and Brionna Jones of the Connecticut Sun, Allisha Gray of Atlanta, Dearica Hamby of the LA Sparks, Jonquel Jones of the New York Liberty, Kayla McBride of the Minnesota Lynx, Kelsey Mitchell of Indiana, Nneka Ogwumike of the Seattle Storm, and Arike Ogunbowale of the Dallas Wings have all been selected for the WNBA All-Star team. This team will compete against the US Olympic Squad on July 20th, a game in which neither Reese nor Caitlin Clark will participate.
Reese is also on the verge of making history, being just one game shy of matching Candace Parker’s WNBA record of 12 consecutive games with a double-double. The Chicago Sky will face the Seattle Storm on July 5th, providing Reese an opportunity to tie the record.
In her recent game against the Atlanta Dream, Reese achieved her 11th straight double-double, scoring 12 points and grabbing 19 rebounds. Overcome with emotion, she cried upon learning she had earned her first All-Star team selection postgame.
