The Creamline Cool Smashers showcased their depth and bench strength in a dominating performance against Galeries Tower, winning 25-22, 25-17, 25-15, on Thursday. This victory allowed them to share the lead with Choco Mucho in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference at the PhilSports Arena.
Coach Sherwin Meneses of the Cool Smashers effectively utilized his entire roster, with only setter Kyle Negrito playing all three sets. This strategic rotation led to their third consecutive win, putting them at the top of the standings alongside the Flying Titans.
Michele Gumabao made a significant impact coming off the bench, scoring a team-high 10 points. Tots Carlos and team captain Alyssa Valdez also contributed significantly, with nine and eight points respectively, despite only playing two sets each.
Valdez expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance and highlighted the importance of their experience in their recent success. She mentioned that being one of the longstanding teams in the PVL, having many veterans is an advantage for them.
Despite a strong effort from the Highrisers, led by Ysabel Jamie Jimenez’s match-high 11 points, they could not sustain their momentum after a close first set. The Cool Smashers regrouped and dominated the next two sets to secure the win. This loss left the Highrisers with a 0-3 record.
Looking ahead, Meneses is focused on maintaining the team’s morale and preparation for their next match against the Strong Group Athletics, who also have a 0-3 record. He emphasized the importance of continuous preparation and staying focused on their upcoming opponents.
In summary, the Creamline Cool Smashers demonstrated their depth and strategic versatility in their comprehensive victory over Galeries Tower, reinforcing their position as a top contender in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference.
