Ohio State to face Texas in 2025 season opener on FOX

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — Ohio State will face Texas in a highly-anticipated playoff rematch during the first week of the 2025 college football season.
The home game will be broadcast on FOX 28 on Aug. 30, the Saturday of Labor Day weekend, promising an exciting start to the season for fans of both teams.
The Buckeyes beat the Longhorns in the Cotton Bowl in a College Football Playoff semifinal game in January, en route to OSU’s national championship.
Both teams likely will be ranked in the top five by the time the game kicks off. Texas quarterback Arch Manning begins his first full season as the projected starter.
The last time Ohio State opened the season with a huge home game was in 2022 when Notre Dame visited the Shoe. OSU won that game as well as the road game at Notre Dame the following season.
The Texas game is the first in a home-and-home series; the Buckeyes will visit Austin in 2026.
It has also been confirmed that Ohio State’s game at Michigan on Nov. 29 will be shown on FOX 28.
