Brighton & Hove Albion may have uncovered their latest midfield gem, with Malick Yalcouyé continuing to make a serious impression on Fabian Hürzeler’s side.

The 20-year-old was once again on the scoresheet on Sunday as Brighton demolished Coventry City 5–0 away from home, producing another energetic performance as the Seagulls moved up to fourth in the Premier League.

Yalcouyé’s goal came after he was played in behind the Coventry defence, with his pace allowing him to race clear before calmly finishing past Carl Rushworth. It was another major moment in what has quickly become an impressive breakthrough campaign.

The Ivorian midfielder had already caught the eye after scoring against Chelsea and earning the man-of-the-match award in Brighton’s 1–1 draw with Leeds. Captain Lewis Dunk has also praised the youngster’s progress, highlighting the impact he has made since breaking into the team.

But Hürzeler has delivered an important warning despite Yalcouyé’s rapid rise.

The Brighton boss has urged the youngster to build on his impressive start while remembering that it is still early in his Premier League career.

For Brighton supporters, however, the signs are extremely encouraging. Yalcouyé now has two Premier League goals this season and is rapidly becoming one of the most exciting young players in Hürzeler’s squad.

The latest performance at Coventry suggests Brighton may have found another gem — and this time, the excitement surrounding him is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore.
