Ebou Adams is no longer a Derby County player, but the midfielder remains a familiar face to supporters after returning to face his former club with Portsmouth.
Adams left Derby in January 2026 to join Portsmouth on a permanent deal after making 89 appearances for the Rams. Derby confirmed that the transfer was completed for an undisclosed fee, although the move was widely reported to be worth around £500,000.
The Gambia international was involved when Portsmouth hosted Derby in the Championship on September 1, with the Rams claiming a 2-0 victory at Fratton Park.
Sam Szmodics opened the scoring for Derby before substitute Lars-Jørgen Salvesen added a second-half goal to secure John Eustace’s side their first Championship win of the season.
Adams had previously played an important role during his time at Pride Park, making a significant contribution to Derby’s promotion campaign before establishing himself as an experienced Championship midfielder.
Although Derby have moved on since his departure, Adams’ return provided another reminder of the players who have recently left the club as John Eustace continues to reshape his squad.
For Portsmouth, Adams remains an important midfield option, bringing energy and defensive strength to John Mousinho’s side.
