Hull City have made an eye-catching return to the Premier League, with Sergej Jakirovic’s side remaining unbeaten after their opening four matches.
The Tigers strengthened their early-season reputation with a hard-fought 2-2 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on September 12. After Morgan Rogers gave the hosts an early lead, Hull responded through Mohamed Belloumi, who scored twice in six minutes to turn the game around. João Pedro eventually levelled for Chelsea in the second half.
The result left Hull with eight points from four matches, having already recorded a victory over Manchester United and draws against Aston Villa and Chelsea.
Jakirovic’s team have shown that they are prepared to compete rather than simply sit back against established Premier League opposition. Their organisation without the ball and ability to threaten on the counter were particularly evident at Stamford Bridge, where they twice punished Chelsea and then withstood sustained pressure late in the match.
Belloumi has also emerged as an important figure in Hull’s start. His brace against Chelsea showcased the attacking threat within a side that was widely expected to face a difficult adjustment after promotion.
However, Jakirovic has kept expectations under control. The immediate objective remains securing Premier League survival rather than looking too far ahead.
Hull’s next challenge comes against Newcastle United at St James’ Park on September 19, providing another demanding test of their unbeaten start.
