The Cleveland Cavaliers are continuing to revamp their coaching staff by reportedly adding Trevor Hendry, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype. Hendry, who previously served as an assistant coach with the Brooklyn Nets, is known for his expertise in player development. He has significant experience in the G-League and also coached the Nets during the 2023 Las Vegas Summer League. Prior to this, he spent three seasons as a video coordinator under head coach Kenny Atkinson in Brooklyn.
With the addition of Hendry, the Cavaliers have now brought on four new assistant coaches following the departure of J.B. Bickerstaff. Hendry will join Johnnie Bryant, Jordan Ott, and DeMarre Carroll. Each of these coaches is highly regarded for their ability in player development.
Cavaliers’ General Manager Koby Altman and the front office are placing a strong emphasis on internal growth for the roster. With limited opportunities to make significant improvements this summer, developing homegrown talent is crucial. It is evident that Atkinson is assembling a coaching team capable of maximizing the potential of the current roster.
Assuming the front office continues to support the core group of players, the success of the coaching staff will heavily depend on optimizing the talents of the team’s two youngest stars, Evan Mobley and Darius Garland.
