The Sydney Roosters are gearing up for consecutive victories as they head into their matchup against the Wests Tigers in Gosford. Industree Group Stadium on the Central Coast will be the venue for the kickoff of Round 3 in the NRLW season, where the Roosters aim to capitalize on their impressive triumph over the Broncos last weekend.
The Roosters’ victory was their first of the season, instilling confidence in coach John Strange that it could mark the beginning of a strong campaign. Jessica Sergis and Tarryn Aiken played pivotal roles in that win and are expected to be key players again this weekend.
On the other hand, the Wests Tigers have had a more challenging start to their season, still in search of their first victory. Coach Brett Kimmorley’s team showed significant improvement in their recent loss to the Gold Coast, but the league-leading Titans ultimately overpowered them with a 28-12 win.
Emerging playmaker Losana Lutu demonstrated her considerable talent in that match, and she will be looking to lead her team to a victory against the Roosters on Saturday.
For the Roosters, there is only one change from the team that defeated the Broncos. Jocelyn Kelleher will enter the starting lineup as lock, moving Aliyah Nasio to the bench. Kelleher, who played as halfback for much of the 2023 season, will collaborate with halves Tarryn Aiken and Isabelle Kelly to provide direction for the team.
The Wests Tigers, however, will feature an unchanged lineup for the third consecutive week. Brett Kimmorley has decided to maintain the same squad that showed improvement from Round 1, despite their loss to the Titans. While the team displayed some offensive potential, they will need to work on their defensive composure. Co-captain Bo Vette-Welsh will play after being cleared from a Head Injury Assessment, although she ran out of time to return to the field in the previous match.
