Juventus Eye Sacha Boey, But Bayern Reluctant to Sanction Deal…….
Juventus have identified Bayern Munich’s right-back Sacha Boey as a prime target for the January transfer window, but the German champions are showing little willingness to sanction a deal for the Frenchman.
The Bianconeri, who are keen to strengthen their defensive options as they push for the Serie A title, have reportedly placed Boey high on their shortlist. The 23-year-old only joined Bayern from Galatasaray in January 2024 for a fee in the region of €30 million, and despite a limited number of appearances due to injury setbacks, he remains part of the Bavarian club’s long-term plans.
Sources in Italy suggest that Juventus have made initial inquiries regarding a potential loan move with an option to buy. However, Bayern’s hierarchy are reluctant to lose a player they consider an important squad asset, particularly with the team competing on multiple fronts. Thomas Tuchel’s side have faced defensive issues this season, and the coaching staff view Boey as a player who can provide both stability and depth on the right flank.
Juventus’ interest stems from concerns over depth in their own full-back department. With Mattia De Sciglio sidelined long-term and questions surrounding the consistency of Andrea Cambiaso and Danilo’s fitness, the club sees Boey as an ideal reinforcement. His pace, energy, and attacking threat down the wing would align well with Massimiliano Allegri’s tactical approach.
Despite the Old Lady’s determination, Bayern’s refusal is rooted in both sporting and financial considerations. Having invested heavily in the French defender less than a year ago, the club is unwilling to let him depart on a discounted or temporary arrangement. Moreover, Bayern believe Boey has not yet had the proper run of games to prove his worth at the Allianz Arena.
For Juventus, the stalemate means they may have to look elsewhere if Bayern maintain their hard stance. Alternatives are being explored across Europe, but Boey remains their preferred option. The Turin club still hope that continued dialogue might open the door to a compromise later in the window.
