Rangers-Linked Huddersfield Starlet Cameron Ashia Attracting Interest from Birmingham, Stoke and QPR
Huddersfield Town’s rising midfield talent Cameron Ashia is rapidly becoming one of the most talked-about young players outside the Championship, with fresh reports linking him to several ambitious clubs.
The gifted playmaker, who has previously been credited with interest from Rangers and Hearts, is now said to be on the radar of Championship sides Birmingham City, Stoke City and Queens Park Rangers. According to Football FanCast, the trio are closely monitoring the teenager’s development as they weigh up potential future moves.
Ashia’s journey to this point has been impressive. The attack-minded midfielder joined Huddersfield’s B Team in 2024 after catching the eye during a trial spell. Prior to his switch to West Yorkshire, he had been part of Derby County’s academy set-up, having initially been recruited from the London-based Fox Academy.
Since arriving at the John Smith’s Stadium, Ashia has progressed at a remarkable pace. His steady development saw him transition from the B Team into the senior squad, where he has quickly established himself as a valuable attacking option in League One.
This season alone, the versatile midfielder has made 28 appearances across all competitions, contributing six goals and three assists — a return that highlights both his creativity and eye for goal. Whether deployed centrally as an attacking midfielder or operating out wide on either flank, Ashia has demonstrated the adaptability and composure that make him such an intriguing prospect.
Rapid Development at Huddersfield Town
When Huddersfield secured Ashia’s signature, the club’s Head of Academy Recruitment, Lee Mellor, spoke glowingly about the youngster’s potential.
Mellor praised his attacking instincts, noting his determination to drive forward with the ball and influence play in advanced areas. He also highlighted Ashia’s athleticism and, crucially, his attitude and work rate off the ball — traits that have clearly aided his swift rise through the ranks.
Club staff have long believed that within Huddersfield’s coaching structure, Ashia possesses the tools to develop into an even more complete midfielder. That belief now appears justified, with outside interest intensifying as his performances continue to mature.
Promotion Could Be Key
There is growing speculation that Huddersfield may face a difficult battle to retain their prized asset if they fail to secure promotion from League One this season. With Championship clubs circling and Scottish Premiership sides previously linked, the Terriers may need second-tier football to convince Ashia that his long-term future lies in West Yorkshire.
For now, however, the focus remains on the present campaign — and on a young midfielder whose stock is rising with every performance.
