The Kansas State Wildcats men’s basketball has seen its first offseason departure, as sophomore forward Stephen Osei has decided to enter the transfer portal after just one year with the program.
Osei, who stands 6-foot-10, spent most of the season redshirting and appeared in only three games. His limited action included a season-high two points against Mississippi State and five minutes of play against UNC Greensboro. For the remainder of the year, he stayed on the bench to preserve his eligibility.
His exit is not unexpected, as K-State anticipates multiple roster changes when the transfer portal officially opens on April 7. The team is coming off a difficult season in the Big 12, finishing near the bottom of the standings and losing 20 games, which has prompted a need for significant roster improvement.
The program is also undergoing a transition under new head coach Casey Alexander, who recently took over following the departure of Jerome Tang. As he prepares for his first season in Manhattan, Alexander is expected to reshape the squad.
At this stage, the only confirmed players for next season are incoming freshmen Jaylen Alexander and Devin Hutcherson, both of whom had previously committed to Alexander during his time at Belmont.
