Alexander pointed to a lack of urgency and poor decision-making in crucial moments, insisting the standards expected at a club chasing promotion were not met. While refusing to single out names publicly, his message was clear: too many players underperformed when pressure mounted, and that has come at a heavy cost.
“This club had automatic promotion in its hands,” Alexander reportedly said. “To let it slip through performances like that is deeply disappointing. Some players have to take a long, hard look at themselves.”
