Liverpool are stepping up their search for a new winger following the departure of Mohamed Salah, with RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande reportedly emerging as their preferred target. New manager Andoni Iraola is keen to strengthen his attacking options and values players with strong dribbling ability, creativity, and pressing qualities.
However, according to reports, Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh has been identified as a leading alternative should Liverpool fail to secure Diomande’s signature. The Reds are expected to return with an improved offer after an initial bid, believed to be around €100 million, was turned down by RB Leipzig.
The Bundesliga side are said to be holding out for as much as €130 million, a valuation Liverpool may be unwilling to meet. While there have been claims that personal terms have already been agreed with Diomande, those reports have yet to be confirmed.
If negotiations for the Leipzig star collapse, Liverpool could turn their attention to Minteh. The Merseyside club are believed to have set aside around £40 million for the Brighton winger, although that figure remains well below Brighton’s reported valuation of £60–70 million.
Minteh impressed during the previous campaign, demonstrating his versatility by operating on either flank while contributing three goals and four assists. At just 21 years old, he offers both Premier League experience and long-term potential, making him an attractive and more affordable option compared to Diomande.
Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola has also been linked with Liverpool and Arsenal. Despite Barcola’s quality, Liverpool may view Minteh as the more practical option due to his familiarity with English football and the lower financial outlay required. As a result, the Brighton star could become a serious target if Liverpool decide that Diomande’s asking price is too high.
