Daizen Maeda is set to complete a move to Ipswich Town after enjoying a hugely successful four-and-a-half-year spell with Celtic.
Since joining the Scottish champions in December 2021, the 28-year-old has collected ten major trophies, including five Scottish Premiership titles, three Scottish Cups and two Scottish League Cups.
Maeda also enjoyed the finest season of his career during the 2024/25 campaign, scoring 33 goals in 51 appearances across all competitions. His outstanding performances earned him several individual honours, including the PFA Scotland Players’ Player of the Year award, Celtic’s Player of the Year and a place in the PFA Scotland Team of the Year.
Overall, the Japanese international leaves Celtic with an impressive record of 79 goals in 212 appearances.
Maeda also represented Japan at the recent FIFA World Cup, featuring in all four of the nation’s matches. He started three games and provided one assist during the tournament.
His expected arrival continues an active transfer window for Ipswich Town following their return to the Premier League.
The Tractor Boys will enter the new season under new head coach Gary O’Neil after long-serving manager Kieran McKenna stepped down. O’Neil arrived from French club Strasbourg and has overseen a number of key signings.
Among the new arrivals are club-record signing Emersonn from Toulouse, Leicester City winger Abdul Fatawu, Fulham defender Issa Diop, while Cedric Kipre and Chuba Akpom have both made their loan moves permanent.
Ipswich will kick off their Premier League campaign on August 22 with a home fixture against Sunderland.
