The 23-year-old is now expected to complete a medical before finalising his switch to Portsmouth, with the club on the verge of bringing back a player they have tracked for a long time. Although Charlton Athletic also expressed interest, they were reportedly unable to match Portsmouth’s financial package.
Recent reports indicate that Hull City are prepared to approve Kamara’s transfer for around £2.5 million. The move would conclude his two-year spell at the MKM Stadium, where he made 40 appearances and scored five goals.
Kamara remains a familiar face at Fratton Park following his impressive loan spell from Norwich City during the 2023/24 campaign. He played in every League One match that season, scoring eight league goals and 10 across all competitions as Portsmouth lifted the League One title and earned promotion to the Championship.
That campaign proved to be the most successful of his senior career and established him as a key attacking player after limited opportunities at Norwich. Portsmouth have maintained their admiration ever since, and a permanent return now appears within touching distance.
Hull signed Kamara from Norwich in August 2024 on a four-year deal. Despite producing standout moments, including a brace in a thrilling 3-3 draw against Leeds United, he struggled to secure a regular starting role.
Last season, Kamara spent time on loan at Getafe, where injuries limited him to just 12 La Liga appearances. After returning for Hull’s pre-season preparations this summer, he scored in a 3-0 win over Konyaspor and also featured against Rizespor and Kasimpasa.
While those performances gave him a chance to impress, Hull are now willing to let him leave permanently. A transfer worth around £2.5 million would not only generate funds for the club but also part ways with a player who spent much of last season outside the regular first-team setup.
