Juventus Show Interest in Wolves Left-Back Hugo Bueno as Transfer Speculation Grows

Wolverhampton Wanderers left-back Hugo Bueno has reportedly emerged as a potential transfer target for Italian giants Juventus, with the Serie A club said to be monitoring the Spanish defender’s situation at Molineux.

According to Italian publication La Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus have expressed an interest in the 23-year-old, adding another name to the growing list of clubs linked with Bueno since Wolves’ relegation from the Premier League.

Bueno’s future has attracted increasing speculation in recent months. The defender impressed during Wolves’ Carabao Cup victory over Port Vale, although he was subsequently left out of the starting XI for the following league fixture after suffering an injury. David Moller Wolfe was selected at left-back on that occasion, giving the Norway international another opportunity to demonstrate his ability.

Despite Bueno remaining under contract with Wolves until the summer of 2028, reports of interest from elsewhere have continued to circulate. Juventus’ reported interest could now provide another significant development, particularly given the Italian club’s reputation for recruiting promising young players.

Bueno has been part of Wolves’ first-team setup since breaking through during the 2020/21 campaign. Over the years, he has steadily developed into an important member of the squad, earning regular playing time and impressing even during periods when Wolves have struggled for consistency.

The Spanish defender enjoyed a productive 2025/26 campaign, making 38 appearances across competitions, scoring once and registering two assists. His consistent involvement highlighted his importance to the team and demonstrated the level of experience he has gained at senior level.

Wolves Face a Difficult Decision Over Bueno

While a move away could represent another important step in Bueno’s development, Wolves are unlikely to welcome the prospect of losing one of their established young defenders.

The club are preparing for life in the Championship and will be determined to secure an immediate return to the Premier League. Maintaining sufficient depth across the squad will therefore be crucial, particularly because the Championship schedule can place significant demands on players due to the volume and regularity of fixtures.

At left-back, Wolves currently possess two young options capable of competing for the starting position in Bueno and Wolfe. Both players are still in the early stages of their careers and have considerable room for further development, while also offering immediate value to Cesar Peixoto’s side.

Bueno was the more regular starter last season, but Wolfe also enjoyed substantial minutes and demonstrated that he is capable of handling the demands of first-team football.

Wolfe Could Step Up If Bueno Leaves

Should Bueno ultimately decide to leave Molineux this summer, Wolves would at least have a ready-made replacement in David Moller Wolfe.

The Norway international arrives with a strong reputation from his time at AZ Alkmaar, where he attracted considerable praise and gained valuable experience playing European football. That background should give Wolves confidence that Wolfe can take on a greater role if Bueno moves elsewhere.

Losing Bueno would undoubtedly reduce the competition and quality available at left-back, but Wolfe appears capable of stepping into the starting role and establishing himself as a key player during Wolves’ Championship campaign.

However, the club would probably still need to consider signing another left-back to provide additional depth and competition. With a long Championship season ahead, relying on just one recognised alternative could leave the squad vulnerable to injuries and suspensions.

For now, though, there is no indication that Bueno’s departure is imminent. Wolves therefore have time to assess the situation and determine whether they can persuade the defender to remain at Molineux.

With Juventus now reportedly showing interest, the coming weeks could prove important for both the player and the club. Wolves will hope Bueno remains committed to their promotion ambitions, while the defender may have a difficult decision to make if interest from one of Europe’s most renowned clubs develops into a formal approach.

For Wolves, retaining both Bueno and Wolfe would arguably be the ideal outcome. The pair would provide strong competition at left-back while giving Peixoto two talented young defenders capable of contributing immediately and developing further in the future.

However, if Juventus or another interested club makes a sufficiently attractive proposal, Wolves may have to prepare for the possibility of Bueno leaving and begin searching for additional defensive cover.
