Brighton & Hove Albion are continuing to explore the possibility of adding another striker before the summer transfer window closes, with Fabian Hürzeler looking for greater attacking depth ahead of the new Premier League campaign.
The Seagulls have already made significant changes to their squad this summer, but the departure of experienced forward Danny Welbeck has increased the importance of adding further firepower. Brighton are also preparing for another season of European football, making squad depth particularly important.
One name to have emerged on Brighton’s radar is Feyenoord striker Ayase Ueda. Recent reports have claimed that the Seagulls have made a concrete move for the Japan international, although the situation remains fluid and there is no indication yet that a deal is close.
Ueda would offer Brighton another natural centre-forward option and could provide competition for the club’s existing attacking players. His movement, finishing ability and experience in European football could make him an attractive option for Hürzeler.
Brighton’s need for additional attacking quality has been discussed throughout the summer, particularly after Welbeck’s departure. The club scored 52 Premier League goals last season, with Welbeck carrying a significant share of the responsibility in front of goal.
Hürzeler has already been handed a new three-year contract, underlining Brighton’s confidence in his long-term project. The German coach will now want his squad to be strong enough to compete on several fronts.
With the transfer window entering its final weeks, Brighton could yet make another move for a striker. Whether Ueda becomes that player remains uncertain, but the Seagulls’ search for additional attacking firepower is one of the key stories to watch before deadline day.
