West Bromwich Albion have reportedly reached an agreement with Spanish club Levante to sign promising 21-year-old player Kareem Tunde. The transfer is now believed to be very close to completion, with reports from Spain suggesting that the move to the Championship club is essentially a done deal.
Tunde, who has been developing within Levante’s first team, is expected to leave the Spanish side and continue his career in England with West Brom. Reports first emerged on Monday from Superdeporte, which stated that the young player was heading to England and would be joining a club in the Championship. Shortly afterwards, Spanish broadcaster À Punt identified West Bromwich Albion as his likely destination.
Further reports from SER Deportivos Valencia have provided more details about the proposed transfer, claiming that Levante have now officially finalised an agreement to sell Tunde to the Baggies. According to the reports, West Brom will initially pay a guaranteed fee of €3 million, which is approximately £2.6 million. The deal could eventually rise by another €2 million, or around £1.7 million, depending on whether certain performance-related bonuses and conditions are met. This means the total value of the transfer could reach €5 million, approximately £4.3 million.
Levante have also included an important clause in the agreement to protect their interests should Tunde become significantly more valuable in the future. The Spanish club will retain a 20% share of any future transfer involving the player. This means that if West Brom later sell Tunde to another club for a higher fee, Levante would be entitled to receive 20% of the proceeds, giving them the opportunity to benefit from his future development and success.
For West Brom, the proposed transfer represents a relatively affordable opportunity to bring in a young player who has already gained valuable experience at senior level in one of Spain’s professional leagues. Tunde progressed through Levante’s youth academy before making his first-team debut approximately nine months ago. Since then, he has gradually established himself as a useful member of the squad under manager Luís Castro.
During his time under the Portuguese coach, Tunde featured in 21 matches and accumulated a total of 1,143 minutes of first-team football. His versatility has also been an important part of his development. During pre-season, Levante were short of options at right-back, leading to Tunde being converted to play in that position. Castro was reportedly impressed by his performances there and continued to use him on the right side of the defence.
There are also further signs that Tunde’s move to West Brom is now entering its final stages. Levante were scheduled to face Osasuna on Monday at El Sadar, but Tunde was not included in the travelling squad. According to Superdeporte, the player remained behind as he awaited the final completion of his transfer to the Championship club.
Overall, all indications from Spain suggest that West Bromwich Albion are on the verge of completing the signing. The remaining steps appear to involve finalising the necessary formalities and paperwork before the 21-year-old can officially become a West Brom player.
