A significant chapter at AFC Bournemouth is drawing to a close, as head coach Andoni Iraola confirms he will depart the club at the end of the season. The 43-year-old Spaniard expressed gratitude in his farewell message, stating, “It has been an honour to manage AFC Bournemouth and I am proud of what we have achieved together.”
Since arriving in 2023, Iraola has overseen a steady rise on the south coast, guiding the Cherries to 12th and 9th-place finishes in his first two full campaigns. This season, Bournemouth sit 11th, just three points behind Chelsea FC in sixth, with six matches still to play—highlighting the competitive edge he has instilled in the squad.
Club chairman Bill Foley praised Iraola’s influence, noting his instrumental role in shaping the club’s direction over the past three seasons. Under his leadership, Bournemouth have evolved into a well-organized and ambitious side capable of challenging higher-ranked teams.
Iraola has been strongly linked with a return to Athletic Club, where he enjoyed a distinguished 12-year playing career. His departure will leave big shoes to fill, but his impact on Bournemouth’s progress will not be forgotten anytime soon.
