Frank Lampard reacts to Jack Rudoni’s Coventry City situation, calling it a “big loss”…..
Coventry City manager Frank Lampard has described Jack Rudoni’s current situation as a “big loss” for the club, acknowledging the midfielder’s absence will have a significant impact on his side’s campaign.
Rudoni, who joined Coventry from Huddersfield Town in the summer, had quickly established himself as an important figure in Lampard’s midfield setup. His energy, versatility, and creativity had been central to the Sky Blues’ early-season performances. However, his progress has now been disrupted, leaving Lampard to reassess his options.
Speaking to reporters, Lampard admitted that losing Rudoni at this stage is a major setback. “Jack has been excellent for us since he came in,” he said. “He brings balance, he’s intelligent with the ball, and he works tirelessly out of possession. To not have him available is a big loss, not just tactically but also for the spirit he gives the team.”
Lampard emphasized that the club would rally around the 23-year-old and ensure he gets the support he needs during this period. While he stopped short of giving a precise timeframe for Rudoni’s return, Lampard hinted that the absence could stretch longer than initially hoped.
“We’ll make sure Jack is looked after properly,” he continued. “He’s a great professional and the kind of character who will do everything right to come back stronger. But we also have to be realistic—it may take some time.”
In Rudoni’s absence, Lampard is expected to shuffle his midfield, with options such as Ben Sheaf and Jamie Allen likely to feature more prominently. Academy talent may also be given opportunities, as Lampard signalled his belief in younger players stepping up.
Despite the challenge, Lampard struck a defiant note, insisting Coventry must adapt. “We can’t replace Jack like-for-like, but we have to find solutions. Football is about overcoming these moments, and it’s an opportunity for others to show what they can do.”
For Coventry fans, Rudoni’s absence is undoubtedly disappointing given his promising start, but Lampard’s faith in the squad offers some reassurance. As the Sky Blues continue their Championship campaign, all eyes will be on how they adjust without one of their brightest summer signings.
