Tottenham Hotspur return to action on Saturday night with a daunting task ahead as Liverpool visit the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and it is clear a response is required. After being humbled 3–0 by Nottingham Forest last time out, Spurs and head coach Thomas Frank are under growing pressure to show resilience, intensity, and belief in front of their home supporters.
Injuries, however, continue to dictate much of the narrative heading into the final fixture before Christmas. Dominic Solanke remains sidelined, though there is encouragement in his recovery as he has returned to individual training on grass, with an early January comeback now the realistic target. James Maddison’s absence remains a major long-term blow, with the midfielder ruled out until the 2026/27 season following a ruptured ACL.
Further challenges come with Pape Matar Sarr unavailable after departing for AFCON duty with Senegal, while Destiny Udogie’s hamstring injury has ruled him out until the new year, weakening Spurs down the left flank. There is, however, cautious optimism surrounding Dejan Kulusevski, who is edging closer to full fitness, though the club are unwilling to take risks.
Against a formidable Liverpool side, Spurs will need character, discipline, and a statement performance under the lights to restore confidence and momentum.
