Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Jørgen Strand Larsen has held a frank and positive conversation with head coach Rob Edwards after being jeered by supporters when substituted during a recent Premier League match.
The Norway international, who has found goals hard to come by in the early part of the campaign, was visibly affected by the reaction from the Molineux crowd during the 1–3 defeat to Manchester United. Rather than shy away from the situation, Strand Larsen spoke openly with Edwards about how he felt.
Edwards revealed that the striker was hurt by the jeers because he genuinely cares deeply about Wolves and wants to succeed for the club. The manager described their exchange as a “long and honest conversation”, with both men sharing their thoughts candidly.
“He really cares,” Edwards said, emphasising that Strand Larsen wants to do his best for Wolves, even if confidence has dipped amid a difficult team run. The coach has encouraged fans to continue backing the players through a challenging period.
Despite the boos, Edwards underlined his faith in the striker’s character and commitment. His message to fans was clear: players feel the supporters’ passion, and trust and unity are vital if the club is to improve results.
Wolves are currently struggling in the Premier League, and tensions between fans and the team have increased amid a long winless run. But inside the club, Edwards and Strand Larsen remain focused on working together constructively to turn things around.
