Kansas State’s 2026 recruiting class is beginning to take shape, with the Wildcats landing a second former Belmont commit over the weekend as new head coach Casey Alexander continues to reshape the program.
The latest addition is highly rated point guard Jaylen Alexander, who flipped his commitment from Belmont Bruins men’s basketball to Kansas State Wildcats men’s basketball. The Alabama native had originally been a key piece of Belmont’s 2026 class but reopened his recruitment following Alexander’s move to the Big 12 school.
Jaylen Alexander’s decision makes him the second Belmont defection to join Kansas State’s 2026 group, following wing prospect Devin Hutcherson, who committed just days earlier.
The growing link between the two programs comes after Kansas State hired Alexander earlier this offseason. His arrival has led to increased movement, with recruits and players reassessing their futures and some choosing to follow him to Manhattan.
For Kansas State, landing Alexander represents an important early recruiting win. The 6-foot-2 guard is regarded as one of the top prospects in Alabama, known for his scoring ability, playmaking, and leadership on the court.
Hutcherson, meanwhile, adds athleticism and defensive versatility on the wing, giving the Wildcats a more balanced foundation for their 2026 class.
The Wildcats’ early recruiting strategy appears clear—build around familiar talent that fits the new coaching system. With two former Belmont commits already secured, Kansas State is prioritizing continuity and long-term development as it enters a new era under Alexander.
As the offseason continues, more movement between Belmont and Kansas State could follow, with additional recruits still weighing their options after the coaching change.
