Knights’ Women Will Learn From Loss, Says Jeffries……
Newcastle Knights NRLW coach Ben Jeffries insists his side will emerge stronger after their season-ending defeat in Brisbane, stressing that valuable lessons will be taken from the disappointment.
The Knights, who had been aiming for another deep finals run, fell short against a determined opponent, bringing their campaign to an abrupt close. While the result was difficult for the players and fans to accept, Jeffries struck a positive tone when reflecting on the season’s conclusion.
“This group has shown enormous growth over the year,” Jeffries said. “Yes, the loss hurts, but sometimes these moments are where the greatest learning comes from. We’ll review, reset, and make sure we’re better for it next season.”
The Knights endured an up-and-down campaign, with flashes of their championship-winning form often undermined by inconsistency. Jeffries acknowledged that the team had been stretched by injuries and squad adjustments but praised the resilience of his players.
“Our standards remain high,” he continued. “We’ve built a strong culture here, and this setback doesn’t change that. The important thing is how we respond — and I’ve got no doubt this group will come back hungrier.”
Senior players are expected to play a vital role in helping younger squad members process the defeat and channel it into motivation for 2026. Several emerging stars showed promise during the season, giving Jeffries reason for optimism.
For now, the focus shifts to recovery and reflection, but the Knights coach made it clear that the team’s ambitions remain undimmed. “We’re building something sustainable here. We’ll take the lessons, work harder, and come back stronger,” Jeffries said.
