MANHATTAN, Kan. — Departing Kansas State standout Tylor Perry has opened up on the emotional difficulty of leaving the Wildcats, admitting his exit from the program has been far tougher than expected.
The senior guard, who became a fan favorite during his time in Manhattan, spoke candidly about the deep connection he built with the team, the fans, and the city itself.
“I left my heart in Manhattan,” Perry said. “It’s more than just a place I played basketball — it’s a place that helped shape who I am.”
Perry played a key role for Kansas State, establishing himself as one of the team’s primary scoring and playmaking options. Known for his composure in big moments and ability to deliver in clutch situations, he quickly earned the trust of both teammates and supporters.
Beyond his on-court contributions, Perry highlighted the unique atmosphere created by the Wildcats faithful at Bramlage Coliseum.
“The fans gave me everything,” he said. “You could feel their energy every night. That’s something I’ll never forget.”
While his departure marks the end of his college career rather than a sudden transfer, sources indicate the decision to move on was driven by his ambition to pursue professional opportunities. The process, however, was described as emotional and reflective.
Head coach Jerome Tang is understood to have maintained a strong relationship with Perry, supporting his development and leadership throughout the season.
“Coach Tang believed in me from day one,” Perry added. “He pushed me to grow, not just as a player but as a person.”
Perry is now expected to turn his focus toward the next stage of his career, with professional basketball firmly in his sights. Despite that, he emphasized that his ties to Kansas State remain unbreakable.
“No matter where life takes me, I’ll always be a Wildcat,” he said. “Manhattan will always feel like home.”
For Kansas State, Perry’s departure represents the loss of not just a key player, but a personality who fully embraced the culture of the program — leaving behind a legacy built on passion, leadership, and unforgettable moments.
