In a surprising turn of events, Catalans Dragons have entered the fray alongside Hull FC in the pursuit of New Zealand Warriors’ winger Dallin Watene-Zelezniak, intensifying the competition for the NRL standout’s signature. Both Super League clubs are eager to bolster their squads ahead of the 2025 season, and Watene-Zelezniak’s availability has sparked significant interest.

Catalans Dragons, aiming to revamp their roster following a series of departures, have identified Watene-Zelezniak as a prime target to strengthen their backline. The French club is reportedly prepared to offer a lucrative three-year deal to entice the 29-year-old winger to Perpignan.

Hull FC, under the new leadership of head coach John Cartwright, are also keen on securing Watene-Zelezniak’s services. The Black & Whites have already made significant signings, including Leigh Leopards’ captain Jon Asiata, as part of their rebuilding efforts. Adding a player of Watene-Zelezniak’s caliber would further signal their intent to climb the Super League standings.

Watene-Zelezniak, known for his dynamic runs and try-scoring prowess, has amassed over 100 career tries in the NRL. His experience and skill set make him a valuable asset for any team looking to enhance their attacking options.

The competition between Catalans Dragons and Hull FC for Watene-Zelezniak’s signature underscores the high stakes involved in Super League recruitment. Both clubs are eager to make impactful additions to their squads, and securing the New Zealand international would be a significant coup.

As negotiations continue, fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see which club ultimately lands Watene-Zelezniak. His decision will not only influence the fortunes of the acquiring team but could also shift the balance of power within the Super League.

Stay tuned for further updates as this transfer saga unfolds.
