Stoke-on-Trent, England — Championship side Stoke City have agreed a permanent transfer deal to sign Ato Ampah from Chelsea as the January transfer window nears its close, sources confirm.
The 19-year-old winger is set to join Stoke City in a £3 million deal, which includes performance-based add-ons that could increase the total value. A medical examination for Ampah is expected to take place today before the move is officially ratified by both clubs.
Ampah, a product of Chelsea’s youth academy, has made limited first-team appearances for the Blues, including one outing in a UEFA club competition last season. Despite his youth and promise, regular senior minutes at Stamford Bridge were hard to come by, prompting the young winger to seek a new challenge in the English Football League.
Stoke City, currently competing in the Championship, identified Ampah as a key addition to bolster their attacking options on the flanks. The club views the signing as an investment in a player with potential to develop into a regular starter at senior level.
Chelsea have reportedly included a sell-on clause in the transfer agreement, allowing the London club to benefit from any future sale of Ampah should his value increase substantially.
The deal represents one of Stoke City’s most eye-catching deadline-day moves as the 2026 winter window winds down, adding to an active final hours of transfer business across English football.
