Wigan Warriors boss Matt Peet has offered a thoughtful and passionate verdict on the current England head coach, backing the national team setup while urging patience as preparations continue for the next major international test.
Speaking after Wigan’s latest Super League outing, Peet praised the direction England are heading, highlighting the growing professionalism and clarity around the national programme. He noted that the foundations being laid now will pay off when it truly matters on the international stage.
Peet was particularly complimentary about the culture within the England camp, describing it as “player-first, standards-driven, and proudly competitive.” He believes the environment allows top Super League talent to transition smoothly into the international arena without losing the intensity required at that level.
However, the Warriors coach also stressed that international success cannot be rushed. According to Peet, building combinations, trust, and resilience takes time — especially against southern hemisphere heavyweights who have decades of continuity behind them.
Importantly, Peet made it clear that clubs and country must stay aligned. He emphasised open communication between England staff and Super League coaches to manage workloads and player development effectively.
In Peet’s view, England are on the right track — and with unity across the game, the results will follow.
