Derby County have confirmed the departure of Kayden Jackson during the latter stages of the January transfer window, with the club’s head coach admitting the forward’s exit will be felt both on and off the pitch.
Jackson, who has featured regularly across the campaign, completed his move after discussions between the player and the club reached a mutual agreement. While the transfer had been anticipated internally, its timing has added a late complication to Derby’s plans as the window draws to a close.
Speaking following confirmation of the move, the Derby boss praised Jackson’s professionalism and commitment throughout his time at Pride Park.
“Kayden has been excellent to work with,” he said. “His attitude has been spot on, and he’s always given everything when selected. He will be missed around the dressing room.”
The manager acknowledged that losing a forward so late in the window presents a challenge, but insisted the club are prepared.
“It does affect our thinking,” he added. “We’re still looking at the market, but we won’t make any decisions unless they’re right for the group.”
Jackson is understood to have been open to a new opportunity in order to secure more consistent playing time, with Derby ultimately respecting the player’s wishes once suitable terms were agreed.
The head coach also offered a short message of goodwill to the departing forward, saying:
“We wish him nothing but the best. Enjoy your new home.”
With the transfer window nearing its conclusion, Derby County will now assess whether to bring in reinforcements or rely on existing squad depth, as Jackson’s departure becomes one of the notable outgoing moves of the month.
