£15M REJECTED! Portsmouth FC Boss Turns Down Premier League Move in Powerful Show of Loyalty

Portsmouth FC head coach John Mousinho has reportedly turned down a lucrative approach from Premier League side AFC Bournemouth, delivering a major boost to stability at Fratton Park.

Sources familiar with the situation suggest Bournemouth had identified Mousinho as a potential long-term option as they continue to assess their managerial structure. The proposal, believed to have involved a significant financial package, would have offered the Pompey boss the chance to step into the Premier League.

Despite the attraction of top-flight football, Mousinho is understood to have declined the opportunity, choosing instead to remain focused on the project he is building with Portsmouth.

Since taking charge, Mousinho has earned praise for instilling a clear tactical identity, improving consistency, and strengthening the connection between the squad and supporters. His work has positioned Portsmouth as a club with growing ambition and direction.

A source close to the club said:
“John feels there is unfinished business at Portsmouth. He believes in the group, the staff, and the long-term vision being put in place.”
The decision has been welcomed by the club’s hierarchy, who view Mousinho as central to their future plans. Continuity is seen as crucial as Portsmouth look to build sustained success and push forward in the coming seasons.

Supporters have also responded positively, applauding Mousinho for prioritising loyalty and long-term vision over an immediate move to the Premier League — a stance that has further strengthened his standing among the Fratton Park faithful.

As the season progresses, Portsmouth will hope their manager’s commitment translates into continued progress on the pitch
