Willian Confirms Fulham Exit After Rejecting Contract Renewal
Willian has officially confirmed his departure from Fulham after turning down a contract renewal offer, ending his second spell at the club. The Brazilian winger initially joined Fulham in 2022 and quickly became a fan favourite with his performances and leadership on the pitch. After spending two seasons at Craven Cottage, his contract expired in June 2024, and despite talks of an extension, both parties failed to agree on terms.
Fulham had offered the 36-year-old a one-year extension, but Willian was reportedly seeking a two-year deal. As a result, he opted to leave, announcing his decision on social media in August 2024, expressing gratitude to the club, fans, and teammates for their support. He noted that Fulham had provided him with an enjoyable environment to play in the Premier League again after leaving Corinthians in Brazil.
Surprisingly, just months after his departure, Willian returned to Fulham in February 2025 on a short-term contract lasting until the end of the 2024–25 season. The club re-signed him following a brief and uneventful stint with Greek side Olympiacos, where he struggled to make an impact. His return was seen as a strategic move by Fulham to bring experience back into the squad amid a difficult run of form.
Despite his return, Fulham made it clear in June 2025 that they would not be extending his contract again. Willian was among 13 players released by the club at the end of the season. His exit marked the final chapter of his time in West London, where he had impressed with his technical skill, professionalism, and match-winning ability.
Willian leaves Fulham having made a positive impression over two spells. Though his time at the club was relatively short, he played a key role in stabilizing the team’s Premier League status and brought a wealth of experience to a youthful squad.
At this stage in his career, it remains uncertain where the veteran winger will go next. Whether he chooses to retire or continue playing elsewhere, his contribution to English football—through his time at Chelsea, Arsenal, and Fulham—has been considerable.
As of now, Willian is a free agent, and any future move will depend on whether he receives offers that align with his playing ambitions and contract expectations.
