Leeds United Sign James Justin in £10M Deal
Leeds United have completed the signing of experienced full-back James Justin from Leicester City in a deal worth up to £10 million. The 27-year-old has signed a four-year contract and becomes Leeds’ 10th signing of a busy summer transfer window that has now seen the club spend over £100 million.
Justin, known for his versatility, is capable of playing on either side of the defence and has also been deployed in midfield. His arrival adds depth and experience to a Leeds squad looking to solidify their return to the Premier League under manager Daniel Farke. Speaking after the announcement, Justin said: “To join a club of this size… being back in the Premier League was a massive thing for me, so I’m over the moon to have joined.”
The deal includes an initial fee of £8 million, with a further £2 million payable in performance-related add-ons. Justin had been with Leicester since 2019 and made over 100 appearances for the Foxes, including in their FA Cup-winning campaign in 2021. His Premier League experience, combined with his ability to cover multiple positions, made him a prime target for Leeds.
The transfer had been in doubt earlier in August when Justin sustained an injury while playing for Leicester against Preston. Leeds reportedly paused negotiations to assess the severity, but with concerns eased, the deal was finalized on 25 August 2025.
Leeds’ interest in Justin intensified after speculation around a possible exit for Isaac Schmidt, with the club eager to ensure they had suitable cover at full-back. Justin’s signing is viewed as not just a replacement, but an upgrade in terms of top-flight experience and tactical flexibility.
This acquisition continues Leeds United’s aggressive recruitment strategy as they aim to re-establish themselves in the Premier League. Alongside other key signings this summer, Justin brings leadership, composure, and tactical intelligence—qualities that Farke has prioritized in reshaping the squad.
