Former England international Jermaine Defoe has publicly criticized Celtic FC for what he described as the “management corrosion” and “untruthful realities” surrounding the club’s recent decision to sack Brendan Rodgers. Defoe, known for his outspoken honesty and deep respect for football ethics, expressed disappointment at how a club of Celtic’s stature allowed internal issues to reach such a breaking point.
According to Defoe, the dismissal of Rodgers was not only disrespectful but also deeply unprofessional, reflecting a growing disconnect between the boardroom and the dressing room. He pointed out that Rodgers, despite a challenging spell, remained one of the few managers capable of guiding the Scottish giants through a period of transition and renewal.
Defoe further emphasized that Celtic’s problems extend beyond the manager, citing poor communication, lack of accountability, and a crumbling sense of unity as signs of deeper managerial decay. “You can’t build success on unstable ground,” he remarked, urging the club to rediscover its integrity and restore respect to its footballing identity.
His comments have since sparked widespread debate among supporters, with many echoing his sentiments that Celtic’s recent decisions risk damaging the club’s proud legacy.
