Former Ohio State Wide Receivers Coach Brian Hartline Hires Former Buckeye Wide Receiver, Offensive Lineman Toby Wilson at South Florida

The former Ohio State wide receivers coach and offensive coordinator, now leading South Florida as head coach, has continued to strengthen his staff with Buckeye ties. He has brought in former Ohio State wide receiver K.J. Hill as an offensive analyst and added former Buckeye offensive lineman Toby Wilson as an assistant offensive line coach.
Hill enjoyed a standout five-year career at Ohio State, where he became the program’s all-time leader in receptions before that mark was later surpassed by Emeka Egbuka. He finished his Buckeye career with 201 catches for 2,332 yards and 20 touchdowns, with his most productive season coming in 2018. That year, Hill recorded 70 receptions for 885 yards and six scores as a redshirt junior. His final two seasons at Ohio State overlapped with Brian Hartline’s first years coaching the receivers.
Selected in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Hill spent two seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers, totaling 10 receptions for 103 yards. He later joined the Winnipeg Blue Bombers’ practice squad in the CFL during the 2024 season. Now transitioning into coaching, Hill will assist with South Florida’s wide receivers in his analyst role.
Wilson, the son of former Ohio State offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson, walked on at Ohio State in 2021 and spent four seasons with the program. Primarily serving as a depth player, he saw limited action, logging 12 snaps during his senior season in 2024. At USF, he will work alongside offensive line coach Mike Sollenne, who previously held an assistant offensive line role at Ohio State from 2022 to 2024.
Both Hill and Wilson join the Bulls’ staff under new offensive coordinator Tim Beck, another familiar name to Buckeye fans. Beck previously served as Ohio State’s quarterbacks coach and co-offensive coordinator under Urban Meyer during the 2015 and 2016 seasons.
