Portsmouth’s scheduled Championship match against Ipswich Town at Fratton Park this evening (Tuesday, February 3) has been called off only hours before kick-off.
In a statement posted on X, a club spokesperson confirmed the decision, explaining that the game was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch. The club said persistent rain overnight, which continued into the morning and was forecast to last until near kick-off, had fallen on an already saturated surface.
Pompey go into the break sitting 20th in the Championship after a convincing 3-0 home win over West Brom last weekend. Ipswich are fourth in the table and remain firmly in the hunt for automatic promotion, trailing league leaders Coventry and Middlesbrough by seven points.
