Stoke City are beginning to rediscover the Bet365 Stadium’s reputation as a difficult place to visit, with a clear improvement in home performances offering fresh optimism during the Championship campaign.
After struggling for consistency at home in recent seasons, Stoke have shown signs of a more structured and disciplined approach under their current manager. The emphasis has been on organisation, intensity without the ball, and smarter use of possession — a shift that has helped the Potters become harder to break down on their own turf.
Training-ground work has focused heavily on defensive shape and coordinated pressing, ensuring Stoke remain compact while still capable of turning defence into attack quickly. Rather than relying on open, end-to-end football, the team have adopted a more controlled style designed to frustrate opponents and limit clear-cut chances.
Home matches have reflected that change. Stoke have looked more resilient, particularly in key phases of games, and have shown improved game management when protecting leads or chasing results. Set-pieces have also been treated with greater importance, giving the side another reliable route to goal.
The approach has been welcomed inside the dressing room, with players responding positively to clearly defined roles and responsibilities. Senior figures have helped drive standards, while younger players have benefited from a system that prioritises work rate and positional discipline.
Supporters, too, have noticed the difference. Performances at the Bet365 Stadium have carried more intensity and purpose, contributing to a more engaged atmosphere on matchdays.
While Stoke are still working to translate progress into consistent league momentum, the foundations are being laid. Visiting teams are no longer guaranteed an open contest, and the Bet365 Stadium is once again becoming a ground where results must be earned.
Stoke City may still have work to do in the Championship table, but at home, they are rebuilding an identity — one based on resilience, organisation and belief.
