Reports from the Liverpool Echo suggest that David Moyes is a strong admirer of Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, who has been catching the eye with his performances in the Championship for Leicester City. Despite his impact, the Foxes are currently battling relegation and could even drop into League One next season.
According to The Telegraph, Leicester are increasingly likely to sell the Ghana international this summer, regardless of whether they avoid relegation, due to ongoing financial pressures at the King Power Stadium. The report notes that Fatawu—signed from Sporting CP for £10 million in July 2024—is considered the most likely departure as the club looks to generate funds.
Leicester’s struggles have been compounded by a six-point deduction in February for breaching financial regulations, similar to what Everton experienced during the 2023/24 season. The club also reportedly follows a model of selling a key player each summer, with Fatawu expected to be the one sacrificed this time—potentially benefiting Everton.
While the exact asking price remains unclear, Leicester hold a strong negotiating position since the 22-year-old still has three years left on his contract.
Fatawu has been one of the standout performers this season, registering nine goals and seven assists in 38 Championship appearances. His contributions have included decisive goals against Charlton Athletic and West Bromwich Albion—points that have been vital in keeping Leicester’s survival hopes alive.
