“My absence caused everything” – Reading FC defender Andy Yiadom is back – “We’re going to end the season well”
Reading FC have been boosted by the return to fitness of experienced defender Andy Yiadom, who is edging closer to full involvement again after a spell on the sidelines with injury issues.
The Royals captain has been missed during his absence, with Reading’s defensive structure appearing less settled in recent matches. Without his leadership, organisation, and experience at the back, the team has at times looked vulnerable, particularly in tight games where control and game management have been crucial.
During his time out, Reading have gone through a mixed run of results, dropping points in matches they may have expected to manage more comfortably. Defensive lapses and a lack of consistency at key moments have contributed to frustration among supporters, with the side struggling to maintain momentum across consecutive fixtures.
Yiadom’s absence has also forced tactical adjustments, with the manager reshuffling the back line and relying on less established combinations to fill the gap. While others have stepped in, the stability and presence he brings has been difficult to replace.
Now, however, the experienced full-back is closing in on a return to full match fitness and is expected to rejoin the squad imminently. His comeback is seen as a major boost for Reading as they head into the final stretch of the season.
Speaking on his return, Yiadom has remained positive, insisting the squad can still finish strongly once key players are available again and rhythm is restored.
With important fixtures ahead, Reading will be hoping his return brings leadership, organisation, and renewed confidence at the back as they aim to end the campaign on a high note.
