Derby County’s latest signing has expressed confidence that he can continue improving under manager John Eustace after completing a permanent move to Pride Park.
The 21-year-old midfielder signed a four-year contract in a deal worth £7 million plus add-ons, bringing an end to his spell with Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg. The move follows a successful loan campaign with Derby last season, where he became a key player for the Rams.
During his time at the club, he featured in 45 matches across several positions, scoring four goals and providing four assists. His performances earned him a nomination for the Championship Young Player of the Year award, while he was also named Derby County’s Young Player of the Year.
Speaking after finalising the transfer, he admitted that returning to Derby had always been his preferred option. He praised the club, supporters, and coaching staff, describing Pride Park as the ideal place to continue his development.
The midfielder highlighted the faith shown in him by Eustace, saying the manager’s trust and regular game time helped him regain confidence and improve his performances. He believes remaining at Derby will allow him to keep progressing and fulfil his potential.
He also revealed that recent conversations with Eustace had been extremely positive, adding that the manager understands how to help him grow as a player.
Looking ahead, the midfielder stressed that everyone at Derby shares the ambition of reaching the Premier League. While the club narrowly missed out last season, he is confident the squad can build on that progress and challenge for promotion in the coming campaign.
