After spending the second half of last season on loan with Paris FC, Diego Coppola could be set for another spell in France as discussions over a permanent move continue.
The Brighton defender struggled for regular playing time following his arrival last summer, and an immediate return to the Amex Stadium initially looked unlikely. Earlier reports had linked the Italian centre-back with a move back to Serie A, where several clubs were monitoring his situation.
However, journalist Gianluigi Longari revealed in late June that Paris FC had opened talks with Brighton over a permanent transfer, identifying the newly promoted French club as the frontrunner despite interest from Lazio.
Longari has now provided a fresh update, confirming that negotiations between Paris FC and Brighton are ongoing, with the Ligue 1 side eager to keep Coppola after his loan spell. The two clubs are now working to find an agreement.
It remains unclear what type of deal Brighton are prepared to accept. The Seagulls have already shown flexibility in the transfer market this summer, with reports suggesting Igor Julio could leave on loan to regain form and value.
A similar arrangement could be considered for Coppola, allowing him to continue his development before a possible permanent move in the future. Another option could be a loan with an obligation or option to buy, giving both clubs a solution that suits their long-term plans as negotiations progress.
