After another underwhelming campaign, Stoke City have wasted no time strengthening their squad in the summer transfer window, already completing five signings as Mark Robins begins reshaping his team.
So far, the club’s main departures have been experienced duo Steven Nzonzi and Lewis Baker, both of whom left following the expiration of their contracts. Their exits have paved the way for fresh arrivals as Stoke look to build a more competitive squad.
Goalkeeper Joshua Griffiths has joined from West Bromwich Albion in a deal worth around £600,000 to provide cover between the posts. Midfielder Djibril Soumare has completed a permanent move from Sheffield United after a successful loan spell last season, costing approximately €4 million (£3.4 million). Swedish midfielder Svante Ingelsson has also arrived from Sheffield Wednesday for a fee believed to be close to £1 million.
The Potters’ biggest investment so far has come in midfield, with Ethan Galbraith completing a move from Swansea City. Reports vary on the transfer fee, with some suggesting it could reach £10 million, while others estimate a significantly lower figure. Meanwhile, highly rated Scottish defender Luke Graham has joined from Dundee for around £2 million, despite attracting interest from several other clubs.
With key reinforcements now secured in defence and midfield, Stoke are turning their attention to bolstering their attack as they search for a prolific goalscorer capable of making a major impact.
