Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly been given the go-ahead to step up their pursuit of Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen, with CaughtOffside claiming the North London club are ready to table an offer worth between £50 million and £55 million. However, Galatasaray are believed to value the Nigerian forward at around £65 million, leaving a gap to be bridged before a deal can be completed.
Personal terms are not expected to present any issues, as Osimhen is said to be open to joining Roberto De Zerbi’s ambitious project. The prolific striker, once described by Nigeria head coach Eric Chelle as the “best striker in the world,” is reportedly interested in making the move to the Premier League.
Spurs have already enjoyed a busy transfer window, spending more than £230 million on reinforcements including Sandro Tonali, Matheus Fernandes, and Jan Paul van Hecke. Despite those arrivals, the club remains determined to strengthen its attack before the transfer window closes.
The desire to sign another striker comes as uncertainty continues to surround Richarlison’s future. De Zerbi admitted he is still unsure whether the Brazilian forward will remain at the club for the new season.
“I don’t know because I like him as a player and as a person,” De Zerbi said. “He has an incredible attitude and behaves professionally every day. But we also have to respect what he wants. Sometimes he says he wants to stay, and other times he talks about leaving.”
The Tottenham boss also praised Richarlison’s contribution, highlighting his importance to the squad.
“He scored 12 goals last season because he has a natural eye for goal,” De Zerbi added. “Everyone at the club appreciates him because of the effort and commitment he shows every single day. We have nothing negative to say about him.”
Tottenham’s heavy investment this summer follows two disappointing Premier League campaigns in which they finished 17th in consecutive seasons, narrowly avoiding relegation on the final day of last season. Club officials are determined to ensure those struggles are not repeated by giving De Zerbi a squad capable of competing much higher up the table.
The focus now is on reducing the reported £10 million gap in valuation with Galatasaray as Tottenham intensify their pursuit of Osimhen. At the same time, De Zerbi is expected to hold discussions with Richarlison to determine his future before the transfer deadline.
Should Spurs complete the signing of Osimhen while resolving their outgoing business, it would mark one of the most ambitious and significant rebuilding projects in the club’s recent history.
