Kansas and Bill Self saw their 2025–26 season come to an early end with a second-round NCAA Tournament defeat to No. 5 seed St. John’s, marking the fourth consecutive year the program has failed to reach the Sweet 16. The Jayhawks finished 24–11 overall, including a 12–6 record in Big 12 play, before turning their attention to a busy offseason.
Since the transfer portal opened on April 7, Kansas has already seen seven players leave the program. Several departures have quickly found new destinations, including center Flory Bidunga, who is headed to Louisville, and forward Samis Calderon, who committed to Butler.
With multiple roster holes to fill, Kansas is actively exploring the transfer market. According to On3’s Jamie Shaw, the Jayhawks are among several programs showing early interest in former UConn center Eric Reibe. The freshman played a supporting role during UConn’s national championship run, appearing in 40 games and making four starts while averaging 5.9 points and 3.3 rebounds per contest. He also shot efficiently from the field at 65.8%, along with 30.8% from three-point range.
Reibe is ranked as one of the top available big men in the portal and is viewed as a strong long-term option with multiple years of eligibility remaining. Kansas is competing with other high-major programs such as Indiana and Michigan for his services, and if they secure his commitment, he would become their first transfer addition of the offseason.
