Wolverhampton Wanderers chairman Nathan Shi has addressed supporters following the club’s confirmed relegation, describing the moment as “sad, embarrassing, and unfortunate,” while insisting the club’s ambition remains unchanged.
Speaking at a press conference after the goalless draw against Crystal Palace sealed Wolves’ fate, Shi refused to let disappointment define the club’s future. He acknowledged the pain felt across the fanbase, calling relegation a setback no one at the club accepts lightly.
“This hurts every one of us,” Shi said. “But difficult moments do not define great clubs — how they respond does.”
The chairman offered full support to manager Rob Edwards and the squad, praising their fight until the final whistle of the campaign. He stressed that blame will not overshadow the commitment shown by those inside the dressing room.
Shi also delivered a message of intent, confirming Wolves will invest heavily this summer to pursue an immediate return to the Premier League. Additional resources, stronger recruitment, and renewed planning are already being prepared.
“We will build again, and we will build stronger,” he declared. “This club belongs in the Premier League, and our focus starts now on bringing Wolverhampton back where it belongs.”
A rebuilding mission begins, but the ambition remains alive.
