Brighton & Hove Albion have completed a major £40 million redevelopment of the American Express Stadium, with the club increasing the venue’s capacity to approximately 32,500 ahead of the 2026/27 Premier League season.
The latest phase of the project introduces a new premium hospitality area, known as the 1901 Club, in the North Stand while also delivering additional seating to accommodate around 800 more supporters. The improvements mark the most significant changes to the Amex since its previous expansion and reflect the club’s continued ambition to enhance the matchday experience for fans.
Brighton have also confirmed plans to expand safe-standing areas in the lower rows of the North Stand. The work follows positive feedback from supporters after the successful introduction of licensed safe-standing sections in recent seasons. Fans whose seats are affected by the redevelopment will be given priority when relocating within the stadium.
Another notable change will come from the 2027/28 campaign, when away supporters will be moved to the south-west corner of the stadium as part of the club’s long-term stadium strategy.
The redevelopment arrives at an exciting time for Fabian Hürzeler’s side, who are preparing to balance Premier League football with UEFA Conference League commitments. Club officials believe the enhanced atmosphere, improved facilities and increased capacity will strengthen the Amex as one of the league’s most modern and fan-friendly venues.
Since opening in 2011, the American Express Stadium has become a symbol of Brighton’s remarkable rise from the lower leagues to becoming an established Premier League club.
