Andre Dozzell moved to Portsmouth FC following a three-year spell with Queens Park Rangers, and he is now in his second season at Fratton Park, where he has continued to impress.
Portsmouth currently have seven players whose contracts expire this summer, with Dozzell among them. The 26-year-old has shown he can be a valuable presence in the Championship. However, under manager John Mousinho, the club’s immediate priority remains securing their place in the division before turning full attention to contract negotiations.
Speaking to The News, Mousinho emphasized Dozzell’s importance to the squad, praising his consistency and influence. He highlighted that the midfielder has started every match he has been fit for, underlining his significance to the team and his steady improvement throughout the season.
Mousinho also confirmed the club’s intention to keep Dozzell long-term, noting that discussions have begun at an early stage. He stressed that their desire to retain the midfielder is not based solely on recent performances, but on a long-standing appreciation of his contributions.
At 26, Dozzell still has room to develop further and could become an even more integral figure for Portsmouth. If the club maintains its current form and avoids relegation, securing his contract extension is expected to be a top priority in the summer.
