Brighton chairman Tony Bloom has provided an encouraging update on the club’s transfer activity as they continue an ambitious and busy summer window that could see them break their all-time transfer record.
Brighton & Hove Albion have already strengthened several areas of the squad with multiple signings. Among the arrivals is defender Pascal Struijk, who joined from Leeds United for a fee of around £18 million. The club has also brought in Costinha and Michael Svoboda to reinforce defensive options, while winger Rodrigo Rêgo arrived from Benfica. In addition, highly rated young talent Zadok Yohanna was signed from AIK for approximately £21 million, despite strong interest from several major European clubs.
The club’s recruitment drive is not expected to slow down. Brighton are reportedly closing in on a potential record-breaking deal worth around £50 million for Tottenham defender Luka Vuskovic, with the player expected to undergo a medical in the coming days. If completed, this would mark the most expensive signing in the club’s history.
Speaking at a fan event in Atlanta ahead of England’s match against DR Congo in the World Cup, Tony Bloom emphasized that Brighton will remain active in the market. He explained that the club prefers to complete as much of their transfer business as possible before the start of pre-season and the new campaign, although he confirmed that further additions are still expected.
Bloom also expressed satisfaction with the progress already made, noting that the club is in a strong position but still has room to improve the squad further.
A key signing in Brighton’s window is Pascal Struijk, who is expected to play an important role in strengthening the defence following the departure of Jan Paul van Hecke to Tottenham. His arrival is also seen as beneficial for the development of younger centre-backs in the squad. Bloom described Struijk as a player Brighton have monitored for a long time, praising his Premier League experience and expressing confidence that he will settle quickly and contribute for many seasons.
He also highlighted Costinha as another long-term target, reinforcing the idea that Brighton’s recruitment strategy is built on careful scouting and planning.
Regarding Zadok Yohanna, Bloom noted that the winger was highly sought after by several top clubs. He emphasized that the player’s decision to join Brighton reflects the club’s growing reputation as a destination where young talents can develop, gain first-team opportunities, and make an immediate impact. With Brighton competing in both the Premier League and the Conference League this season, Yohanna is expected to be integrated into the first team setup relatively quickly.
