Rangers are expected to do everything possible to keep hold of Fernandez, believing that offering Champions League football could be key to convincing him to stay beyond this season. The midfielder has impressed in his first campaign at the club, becoming a regular in Danny Rohl’s starting lineup and even earning recognition at international level with Nigeria—clear signs of his strong performances.
His form has naturally attracted attention, with interest reportedly coming from Premier League sides as well as clubs in Germany. Despite this, Rangers have no intention of letting him go anytime soon. With a contract running until 2029, the club would prefer to keep him for at least a few more seasons. If they secure the league title and qualify for the Champions League, holding onto top players like Fernandez will be seen as essential.
At the same time, there appears to be a different situation regarding Oscar Cortes. Rangers are open to letting the winger leave permanently after a limited impact since joining from Lens, having made just 21 appearances and spent time on loan at Sporting Gijon and Huracan. Cortes is also thought to be keen on a fresh start, and a transfer could benefit all parties, with Rangers potentially reinvesting any transfer fee into strengthening the squad.
