Brighton & Hove Albion have rejected an opening bid for defender Igor Julio, with the Brazilian continuing to attract interest during the final weeks of the summer transfer window. Spanish side Espanyol are among the clubs monitoring his situation after their initial offer fell short of Brighton’s valuation.
The Seagulls are not actively looking to sell and are prepared to keep the 27-year-old unless a suitable offer is made. Club officials value Julio’s experience and versatility, believing he can still play an important role in Fabian Hürzeler’s squad throughout the 2026/27 campaign.
Although no agreement is close, further bids are expected before the transfer window closes. Interest in the defender has continued to grow, but Brighton remain in a strong negotiating position and are unlikely to lower their asking price.
For now, Brighton’s message is clear: any club hoping to sign Igor Julio will have to meet the club’s valuation. Unless that happens, the defender is expected to remain at the Amex Stadium and continue competing for a place in Hürzeler’s squad this season.
